Summary

The article is about an obsessed fan ‘Paula Goodspeed’ of one of the American idol jury named Paula Abdul. Goodspeed was found dead in her car, after she commit a suicide, in the neighbourhood of Paula Abdul. Goodspeed was to obsess with the member of the American idol jury and therefore probably stalked her a lot. She once said on the American idol show: "I really like Paula Abdul a lot. She's really cool. I'm a really big fan and I made life-sized drawings of Paula.

Goodspeed did an audition for American idol and was humiliated by ‘Simon Cowell’ at first. He told her that he never thought she is able to sing with all that metal in her mouth. Abdul added that she was speechless of her performance but not in a good way at all, which was probably the main reason of good speed’s suicide.

Opinion:

In my opinion it is a bad thing to humiliate people by the way they look, especially when it is in front of the camera. People come to do a singing audition and want to be criticized by their performance not about their looks. It could help to give people a damage of their self-esteem, which was the case with Paula Goodspeed. I don’t know why they give such critic to people, maybe to give a boost to the view figures, but it’s just better to tell the participant, when they did a awful performance, that they should go on with singing but not in a professionally way and the jury should definitely not be critical about someone looks, because there is just no need for that.

I agree with you about the humiliating part, that's just a bad thing to do. But she chose to be there and if she had paid more attention to how the program works she would know that if you are a bad singer or/and give a bad performance you will be criticized on that. And not in a soft way.

On the other hand, it is a show and the jury is trying to get a reaction from you and make fun of you. If they wouldn't do that, i think they would have way less viewers.

I also agree with you that the judges of American Idol can be very harsh, but you know that when you come to such an audition. The girl had to be mentally ill, because a healthy person wouldn't commit suicide because of some bad critic. So, I don't think it is fair to blame the television show. But, I must admit; I am not a fan either of television programmes like this.
