Death of baby P could have been prevented

Summary:

Cruel murder of ‘baby P’ shocked the British People last year. His mother and father abused the baby. After he was beated and tortured by his family he had to go to the hospital. Social workers and police battled about what the do with the baby. 9 days before his death a lawyer said evidence of him being abused wasn’t enough to put him into care, while the baby-sitter warned that the baby could die soon If they don’t do anything about it. But he went back to his family and the baby-sitter was right because baby P died soon with 50 injuries and a broken spine.

The case just got in the spotlights this month. The father of the baby is been found guilty last Tuesday, but he is acquitted for murder.

Opinion:

I think it is such an absurd thing that they send the baby home in the first place. They lawyer for social workers said there wasn’t enough evidence to keep the baby from his parents. If I read the sources I can say that there were enough signals of the baby being abused. The baby-sitter told the hospital, the social services and the police a couple of times that the baby is about to die soon if they don’t put him in another family. They should have listened to her. The back of the baby was probably already broken when he went to the hospital for research 9 days before he died. But not only the back was broken, the baby had just many injuries. The doctor didn’t handle accurate enough and should have seen that there was something cruel going on in this family. Mourning about the baby could have been pretended, if the people in question saw the situation and condition of the baby, which wasn’t too hard to recognize.

His back was already broken when he went to the hospital for research. The doctor didn’t handle accurate enough and should have been seen that there is something cruel going on in this family. Mourning about the baby could have been prevented if the people in question saw the bad situation and condition of the baby, which wasn’t that hard to recognize.

Gordon Brown hints at tax cuts for poor

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2008/nov/14/gordon-brown-world-economy

Summary

Gordon Brown, the prime minister of the UK, went to NY last weekend to discuss about the global economy, which is sliding deeper into recession. Brown had a meeting on Wall Street together with the leaders of the world’s leading 20 economies. The prime minister said that there is need for a ‘’fiscal stimulus’’ and that it is really urgent, therefore Brown build up the four-point plan to come to this goal. The four-point plan includes: cutting taxes, fixing problems in the international financial system, pumping more money into the IMF and an end to the deadlock over world trade. Most important part will be the tax cut. Brown believes that a tax cut may help to provide a higher public spending. The tax cut would especially be used for the poorest in society, because they could help the economy by spending the extra money.

Opinion

Some people believe that the tax cut will not help the economy out of the recession. They think that when people have the money to spend, they will actually save it. Especially because of inflation, which is a worldwide problem at this moment. Some people will wait for a better time to spend their money and therefore save it till then. I don’t agree with this thought. I think Brown have a good point, when it comes to cutting tax. The crisis proceed from the fact that people aren’t able to save their money but they just want to spend it and when they don’t have it they will ask for a loan. People aren’t able to save their money any more. Therefore I think the tax cut will help. People, especially the poor ones, have left the money to spend and I think they will. It will help to bring the economy out of the recession.

american idol participant did commit a suicide

Summary

The article is about an obsessed fan ‘Paula Goodspeed’ of one of the American idol jury named Paula Abdul. Goodspeed was found dead in her car, after she commit a suicide, in the neighbourhood of Paula Abdul. Goodspeed was to obsess with the member of the American idol jury and therefore probably stalked her a lot. She once said on the American idol show: "I really like Paula Abdul a lot. She's really cool. I'm a really big fan and I made life-sized drawings of Paula.

Goodspeed did an audition for American idol and was humiliated by ‘Simon Cowell’ at first. He told her that he never thought she is able to sing with all that metal in her mouth. Abdul added that she was speechless of her performance but not in a good way at all, which was probably the main reason of good speed’s suicide.

Opinion:

In my opinion it is a bad thing to humiliate people by the way they look, especially when it is in front of the camera. People come to do a singing audition and want to be criticized by their performance not about their looks. It could help to give people a damage of their self-esteem, which was the case with Paula Goodspeed. I don’t know why they give such critic to people, maybe to give a boost to the view figures, but it’s just better to tell the participant, when they did a awful performance, that they should go on with singing but not in a professionally way and the jury should definitely not be critical about someone looks, because there is just no need for that.
